Accommodation

Overseas visitors tend to cluster in popular areas in London such as Earls Court and Bayswater. Staying in hostels in these areas can cost £80 per week or more, but if you are prepared to venture away from the tourist areas there are plenty of other excellent hostels in central London that will accommodate you for less money. We can offer you an up-to-date list of hostels for shorter term accommodation.

You will gradually become familiar with the layout of London and then be able to decide on an area that is relevant for your needs e.g. cost, location, transport. Most people find a room in a flat/house share, either through friends or an advert in the press e.g. TNT magazine, local London newspaper (LOOT - comes out daily). Many places require a deposit (bond) AND one month’s rent in advance, so be prepared to lay some money out to secure the place you want. Prices vary considerably depending on the area and the standard you require – try not to go for the first place you see, look around and find what you really want! After all, it will be your home whilst you are in London.

Roughly speaking, a room of your own, sharing a bathroom and kitchen with others in travel zones 1 – 3 will be between £60 - £120 per week. On average you could expect to pay £75 per week. If you are able to travel in from further out you do tend to get more for your money, maybe with a small back garden. The trade off is the travel and cost involved.
